The Canadian Dermatology Foundation announced the recipients of the 2008 research grants on July 1, in Montreal at the annual CDF Research Grant Awards Reception in the Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Twenty researchers received grants totalling $445,000. Dr Neil H. Shear, President of the CDF, congratulated the researchers, and thanked the corporate benefactors and CDF Members for their financial support, which make the annual grants possible. The Canadian Dermatology Foundation was established in 1969 to provide assistance in research into skin disease. The CDF is the leading source of funding for peer-reviewed dermatological research in Canada and grants to date total over $4.5 million. Advances in the study and knowledge of skin disease generate improved methods of diagnosis and treatment, to the benefit of Canadian dermatologists and their patients. |
