The Canadian Dermatology Foundation awarded a total of $520,000 in research grants to 22 investigators at the Annual CDF Research Grant Awards Reception in Edmonton, Alberta. CDF President Dr Neil H. Shear acknowledged that the growth in the funds available this year for research in dermatology was due to the loyal support and financial contributions made by Corporate Benefactors and CDF Members.

Congratulating the grant recipients, Dr Shear said “I know from personal experience the impact that a Foundation grant can have on an investigator’s career, and I believe all of you will appreciate the honour of being selected as a recipient of a CDF grant and value it as much as I do.”

Dr Shear went on to say “Each year, we see more colleagues joining our distinguished Benefactor Life Members and Life Members. It is a privilege to be part of such a dynamic community, dedicated to keeping the dream growing for young, high-level investigators. We have seen some amazing improvements in methods of diagnosis and treatment as a result of advances made in the study and understanding of skin disease. We and our patients benefit from Canadian research”.
