Press Releases
The Canadian Dermatology Foundation selected dermatologist-researcher Dr Cheryl Rosen as
the recipient of the Renée Albers Memorial Grant in the amount of $25,000 for her research
into "Regulation of SNARK protein kinase activity in keratinocytes". Doctor Rosen is affiliated
with the Toronto Western Hospital, University of Toronto.
Pictured above are Dr Neil Shear (Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee), representing
Dr Rosen and Dr H.John Albers (Secretary-Treasurer), at the Canadian Dermatology Foundation's
Annual Reception for Grant Recipients, which took place in Halifax earlier this year.
The Canadian Dermatology Foundation, whose goal is to advance dermatology through original
research, is the leading source of funding for peer-reviewed dermatological research in Canada.
To date, the Foundation has awarded over $2.3 million to research projects, in individual
grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. An independent Medical Advisory Committee reviews all
research grant applications and selects recipients, subject to CDF Board approval.
The Foundation allocates research grants from a Capital Fund, which was originally based on
annual membership fees from dermatologists. The Fund has since been considerably strengthened
through the support of corporate sponsors, bequests and commemorative donations.
